Mastering CPR to Save Lives
[Hsinchu]
On March 30 and 31, 2002, following Master's example of expressing great
mercy and universal love to all beings, Formosa's Hsinchu Centre sponsored
the "Care for Life -- Let Us Learn CPR" activity in the auditorium
and classrooms of Chuzern Elementary School in Chupei. The event was
supported by the Hsinchu branch of the ROC Red Cross and received a
warm response from the students and local community.
Through
Master's blessing, fellow initiates successfully managed the liaison
and organizational work for the event and voluntarily participated in
the activity with great interest and enthusiasm. During the two-day
program, they learned many intensive and comprehensive first aid skills,
which they should be able to apply in the future to benefit others and
themselves.
[Tainan] To introduce spiritual
practice to the local community and raise the quality of its leisure
time activities, Formosan fellow practitioners held "A Dance to
Anping" performance at Fort Zeelandia, a first-class historical
building in Tainan City. This event was held on April 7, 2002 in cooperation
with the Anping Cultural and Educational Foundation, which promotes
development of Tainan's traditional culture. Both Catholic and Buddhist
groups participated in the grand activity, infusing it with spiritual
creativity and cultural variety.
Fellow
initiates blended the essence of traditional and modern dance into their
performance, guiding the audience through various eras in Chinese history.
Their tender and elegant traditional folk dance, together with youthful
and dynamic modern dance movements, demonstrated the liveliness, open-heartedness,
and spiritual creativity of the Quan Yin practitioners.
Tainan City Mayor Hsu Tien-tsai also attended the event and praised
the positive social contributions made by members of the Supreme Master
Ching Hai International Association through their participation in environmental
protection and body and mind purification activities, while pursuing
spiritual practice. The initiates' lively singing and dancing reflected
their inner vitality. Fellow practitioners presented the book A Collection
of the Supreme Master Ching Hai's Artistic Creations to Mayor Hsu to
reward him for his commitment to promoting spiritual, artistic and cultural
activities in the area.
Chairman
He Shih-chung of the Anping Cultural and Educational Foundation commented
on the diverse methods used by the Supreme Master Ching Hai International
Association in offering guidance to young people, thus purifying their
hearts in accordance with current international trends.
A documentary on the above
activity is broadcast in Serial No. 51 of the
A Journey through Aesthetic Realms
