Brief
Introduction to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
St. Jude Children's Hospital is our nation's first childhood cancer hospital, and one of the world's premier centers for the research and treatment of catastrophic diseases, primarily pediatric cancers. The institution's mission is to save children's lives by finding the causes of these illnesses, improving treatment and developing cures.
Children from across the country are redressed to St. Jude for care beyond the means or expertise of local medical facilities. Physicians and health workers from all parts of the country and world continue to receive breakthrough medical information at no charge from St. Jude, to become better able to assist families in their own home communities. This helps make medical assistance available to many more boys and girls than one facility could ever treat.
Brief
Introduction to
Starlight Children's Foundation
Starlight Children's Foundation brightens the lives of thousands of seriously ill children each year. With programs ranging from wish granting to providing hospital grants, we are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children. The illnesses that challenge these children range from cancer, cystic fibrosis and leukemia to cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and AIDS. Their ages range from 4 to 18 years.
Starlight does more than just grant wishes; we also provide hospital grants and diversionary entertainment services. These in-hospital programs include Starlight rooms, monthly entertainers, and holiday parties, as well as our mobile entertainment centers for children to use in isolation, while they are bed-bound.
