God Blesses Us When We Help Others

Spoken by Supreme Master Ching Hai,

(Originally in English) Videotape #753

Q: I’m working as a nurse in a residential home for senior citizens where the meals mainly consist of meat and I have to distribute them to the residents and sometimes feed them. I also clothe them and help them with their bodily hygiene so I’m always in close physical contact with them. Thus my question is: Is this continuous physical contact with elderly people an obstacle to my spiritual growth?

M: No, no, no! You’re helping them and so God blesses you. Why should it be a hindrance? You’re just feeding them. You’re just working there. Just concentrate on their happiness and well-being and not on your own and you’ll be blessed. We’re here to help other people. You can’t always be afraid and feel you can’t do this or that unless you want to run into the Himalayas and do nothing. Then it’s fine.

Be happy! Be happy that you’re still able to help them and you aren’t one of them. You have to thank God for that blessing and try your best to bring happiness and good feelings to these elderly, respected people. They’re your parents and grandparents. Try your best. Be loving, be kind, do your duty well and God will bless you. Recite the Five Names all the time and you’ll have no trouble. Not only will you have no trouble, you’ll also bless them.

Listen to Your Inner Guidance to Avoid Making Mistakes

Spoken by Supreme Master Ching Hai,
videoconference with initiates from the Jakarta Center,
Indonesia, October 6, 2002 (Originally in English)

Q: Dear Master, thank you for your love and blessing. I really want to know how we can surrender to God’s will. Most of the time I feel that it’s my physical mind that decides things and so I often feel disappointed.

M: We all do that. We all make mistakes until we learn a better way. It’s OK to make mistakes, but try to mediate more and listen to your inner guidance and not outside influences. Everyone has to learn. Don’t worry.
