Pingtung initiates participate in a street-cleaning
activity at Hsinchih Village.
|
In the beautiful period of early spring,
the Kaoping Center of the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association
organized a street-cleaning project in Hsinchih Village, Wanluan Rural
Township, Pingtung County. The Laiyi Center is located in Wanluan
Township, and for years local fellow initiates have made it their
responsibility to clean the streets in the area. Many took part in
this activity, which was held on February 24. After lunch, initiates
put on their working vests and began to do the cleaning. They pulled
weeds, swept the garbage and weeds on either side of the paved roads,
and trimmed vines that were hanging too low over fences along the
roadway. The activity lasted for about three hours.

The wife of the village chief (dressed in
pink, second from left) came to the Laiyi Center to offer her
thanks.

Local residents were aware of the goodwill
of the Center and the love shown by our initiates, while we were constantly
encouraged and supported in our activities by the village chief and
his wife, who commended us on our work, and personally offered her
thanks to us at the Laiyi Center that afternoon. She also thanked
us for our association's continuing care of the less fortunate, free
medical consultations, street-cleaning activities, and emergency relief
for individuals and groups in need.
