Introducing Veggie Meat

[Lome] April 25 – 29, Golden Year 4 (2007), fellow initiates conducted an activity to share with the locals in many areas the good news of Alternative Living. We also attended a meat fair in Dapaong, a border city in the northern area of Togo, organized by the government of Togo on the 47th Independent day of Togo. At this fair we introduced veggie meat (tofu, soya chunks and gluten). We showed the fair-goers how to make tofu and gluten from soy grains and wheat flour. The people of Dapaong had the opportunity to enjoy these veggie meats made on the spot. At the same time some fellow initiates were distributing Alternative Living flyers. Following a talk given by doctors and veterinarians about the risks of meat eating as well as animal diseases, our stand had been a great attraction because everyone wanted to buy the vegetarian foods that we introduced. At the end of the fair our Association received the first prize, the prize of excellence and best stand along with a winner’s check of 50,000 FCFA ($100 US). These activities showed us the extent people need positive information to change their way of living. We also distributed leaflets with instructions on how to make the veggie meats and some people even suggested that we come back to teach them the whole process of producing tofu and gluten. We thank Master infinitely for giving us inspiration, guidance and protecting us throughout this activity.
