A Flemish housewife has proven once again that we should
never underestimate one person's power to create positive change in
the world. Margaretha Guidone ♥♥♥♥♥♥
was so concerned over the impact of global warming, that she decided
she needed to do something about it. She focused on encouraging Flemish
politicians to watch a movie. An Inconvenient Truth is a documentary
on climate change by Mr. Al Gore, who is the former Vice President of
the United States. Ms. Guidone was credited with getting 200 politicians
to watch this informative documentary, including Belgian Prime Minister
Guy Verhofstadt and the Minister-President of Flanders, Yves Leterme.
Her passion and knowledge of the issues made a powerful impression on
the politicians. In November 2006, she was asked by Belgian Federal
Environment Minister, Bruno Tobback, to travel to the UN climate change
conference in Nairobi, Kenya, and speak on his behalf. Nature Point,
the largest Flemish nature association, has indicated that its recent
increase in membership growth is due in part to Ms. Guidone's efforts.
Now, people are increasingly more aware about the truth of global warming!
