I
used to work in a vegetarian restaurant where I met a brother who
introduced me to the Quan Yin Method of meditation. Later, when my mother
became ill, I quit my job and stayed home to take care of her. At that
time, my mother was suffering a great deal, being unable to eat, move
or speak, but her doctors could find no panacea for her illness. By
observing her suffering, I realized the ephemeral nature of human life
and became eager for initiation into the Quan Yin Method. With the help
of several initiated sisters, I began the initiation process by learning
the Convenient form of practice.
During the eight months that I looked after my mother,
I advised her to maintain a vegetarian diet. Also, the sisters kindly
helped us, especially seventy-year-old sister Wen, who regularly came
to my house to read Master's teachings and the News magazine to my mother,
regardless of the weather. She meditated and shared her merits with
my mother as well, giving her great encouragement. In addition, I played
Master's Buddhist Chanting tape for my mother each day. During the last
few months of her life, my mother fell ill several times, and I fervently
wished that she would recover her eyesight before her departure. Through
Master's blessings, my wish came true. One of her eyes regained its
function and she could even place Master's photo against her lips to
kiss it! The sight moved me to tears. How grateful I was to almighty
God and Master, and also to the sister who helped us!
After My mother's demise, I had a vision in which
a large door opened and many people came to meet her. Although I am
still only practicing the Convenient Method, Master's great power has
already helped my family, and Her teachings have profoundly influenced
my life, inspiring me on the spiritual path. I hope that through Master's
care and teachings, I will soon be initiated, gain enlightenment, and
as Master says, become a wise, happy, compassionate, giving, sincere
and loving disciple!
